Course Pacing, Time Requirements and Access Periods

Course timing and access rules vary by state, license type, course package, and delivery platform. Use this guide to understand how long you may have access, how required course time is recorded, when you can leave and return, and what to do before a course expires.

How long does a pre-licensing course take?

Your state determines the required education hours. Some states also impose timing or progression rules, while others allow more flexible self-paced study. Completing lessons quickly does not eliminate any state-required seat time. Your enrollment materials and student portal provide the requirements for your specific program.

How long can I access my course?

Course-access periods vary by program. Current terms may include 5 months, 20 weeks, or up to 105 days when all six courses are required. Your exact access period is disclosed at enrollment and displayed in the student portal. A course-access deadline is separate from the number of education hours required by your state.

How is course time tracked?

When timing rules apply, the learning platform records qualifying activity automatically. A timer or progress indicator may appear in the course. If you remain idle, the system may log you out and stop recording time. You should not need to calculate qualifying hours manually, but you should review your portal progress regularly.

Can I leave and return later?

In most lessons, you can stop and return later and the platform will preserve your progress. Quizzes and final examinations may follow different rules, so begin an assessment only when you have enough uninterrupted time to complete it. State-required time does not generally have to be completed in one sitting unless your course instructions specifically say otherwise.

When can I take the course final?

You must complete the required lessons, progress steps, and any applicable state-mandated course time before the final examination becomes available. Finishing the reading alone may not unlock the final when your state requires additional seat time.

What if my course is expiring?

Review extension options before your access expires. Availability and pricing depend on the program and state. Some states or course providers may not permit an extension, in which case reenrollment may be required. Contact Student Support at [email protected] or 858-329-0999 before the expiration date so the available option can be confirmed.

Where do I find my exact terms?

Use the enrollment confirmation, course package description, and student portal as the authoritative sources for your access period and current progress. If those sources appear inconsistent, contact Student Support before relying on a deadline.
